Inception
The fourth film I have watched for my Film Studies A-level is Inception.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Inception is a 2010 science fiction film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and co-produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan. The film revolves around the idea of 'inception' where the team of professional dream thieves attempt to build a three layer dream and plant a life-changing idea in the mind of their target.
For this film, I watched it on my laptop again but this time using a dvd of the film and the program CyberLink PowerDVD. There were positives to watching this film on my laptop as well as some negatives. The positives were that I was able to pause and play whenever I wanted to so that I could get a drink or snack and maybe have a stretch due to the film's long running time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. I was also able to move in position when watching this film, bring it closer to me, further form me or watch it on my side.
However the negatives were that due to the program being on my laptop and film being long, I had to keep plugging in my charger due to the loss of battery and therefore i was slightly limited in where and how i viewed the film.
The main conflict within the film is Human vs Self as the main character battles to keep his emotions buried and stop his painful past of his wife's death from resurfacing within a dream. This conflict is shown from the beginning yet becomes more evident as the film progresses. The film also has the mix between to the two basic plots of 'The Quest' and 'Voyage and Return' as the audience are not completely sure if the main character actually returns home after their voyage or if they are unknowingly still stuck in a dreamland.

Overall I did enjoy watching this film on my laptop and would recommended watching this film there as I was able to pause, play, rewind and adjust volume to my situation as well as get comfy and stretch if I needed to. Therefore I was able to enjoy the film more than if I was at a cinema.
